Importing, processing and distributing complementary animal feed is our business.

The New Zealand Bulk Feed Importers Forum is made up of companies involved in importing, processing and distributing complementary animal feed. Members work closely with farmers, farm supply companies, food manufacturers, and experts from industry and academia to support the health and wellbeing of New Zealand farm animals and the economic and environmental sustainability of New Zealand agriculture.

What we do

New Zealand agriculture is built on pasture-based farming systems. Our farmers pride themselves on working the land to produce world-recognised food and high-end goods while maintaining a high standard of animal welfare and care.

However, the quality and quantity of pasture available varies according to season, climate, weather and farm management techniques. As extreme weather events become more common, it is now more important than ever to ensure livestock continue to get the nutrients they need to thrive.

Complementary feeds balance fluctuations in protein and other nutrients, ensuring optimum animal health, productivity, and environmental efficiency all year round.

Our Forum members source and supply high-quality feed and mineral supplements to provide New Zealand farmers with a cost-effective way to meet their animals’ nutritional needs.

Sustainability

New Zealand is unique among developed economies in the proportion of greenhouse gas emissions generated by agriculture.

Our Forum members

  • recognise the realities of climate change and the devastating impact it has on New Zealand and across the world.

  • acknowledge that addressing climate change in a sustainable manner requires a universal effort as all of us examine what we do and how we can do it better.

  • believe that climate resilience and low greenhouse gas emissions development should be fostered in a manner that does not threaten food production – as set out in the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

  • are committed to No Deforestation, No Peatland and No Worker Exploitation (NDPE) policies across their respective supply chains.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY COMMITMENTS
